Banks and Credit Unions
State-chartered banks, credit unions and other depository institutions are under the jurisdiction of the Depository Institutions Division of the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions (DFI). Depository institutions regulated by DFI include:
- State-chartered banks
- Trust companies
- State-chartered credit unions
- Savings and loan associations
The Depository Institutions Division examines companies and investigates complaints and suspicious activity. The Depository Institutions Division also provides educational materials and outreach to protect consumers from financial fraud. For information on education and outreach, visit the Public Resources channel. If you have a question or need to file a complaint, DFI is here to help.

“Guarding Against Phishing” warns customers about phishing – the use of fraudulent e-mail to acquire sensitive information. Many times these false messages appear to be coming directly from a bank, credit union or other financial institution. This PDF file is designed to yield three brochure-width fliers per one 8 ½-by-11-inch sheet of paper, printed on both front and back. The copies may be printed at any local print shop. |
