State-Regulated Banks

State-regulated banks intending to open a new branch should contact the Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) in writing. New charters should submit the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) Interagency Charter and Federal Deposit Insurance Application. New officers and directors in certain circumstances may need to submit the Bank Directors Oath and FDIC Interagency Biographical and Financial Report. Trust Companies

Trust companies are required to submit a report of condition and income twice a year.

State-Chartered Credit Unions

State-chartered credit unions must submit documentation for out-of-state credit union branch applications, field of membership expansions, bylaw changes and mergers. State laws governing credit unions can be found in Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS) 286.6. Administrative regulations can be found in 808 Kentucky Administrative Regulations (KAR) 3.
